About 15 km north of Cusco through a narrow road and sharp curves, is located the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas. The valley has long been home to attractive colonial cities, isolated indigenous towns with their artisan markets with their famous handcrafted looms that come from a tradition since the time of the Incas, and high Inca citadels where you can appreciate the most famous discovering archaeological sites like Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Chincheros, the terraces of the salt mines and Moray, which were built retaining walls full of fertile land. They were irrigated through a complex irrigation system. At the base of the terraces there is a rainwater storage system. The whole system allowed the cultivation of the Incas which produced more than 250 types of vegetables. These masterpieces of the Incas show us the art, architecture and engineering of the Inca civilization.
